Cricket Tournament

On Monday 28th February FBEC attended the Girls U13’s Lady Taverners Cricket Tournament at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre.

Our team consisted of Romilly Staines and Freyja Hood from Year 7 and Courtney Sartain, Sophia Hume, Lexi Mason, Lexie Houlahan, Alice Poulter, Neve Sewell and Freya Burleigh from Year 8.

Our first match saw us playing Conyers. After some fantastic batting from Neve and Lexi M the match ended 82-38 to us. For our second match we were up against Parkside. Again, the girls performed some fantastic batting, managing to bat off the side and back walls, pushing out total runs up and with some spectacular bowling and a few catches of the ball later the match ended 87-34 to us. Our third and most testing match was against Barnard Castle.

The team continued to perform solidly with everyone on the team batting and fielding superbly. Unfortunately, we were beaten 82-55 by the opposition. Barnard Castle gained a place in the final where they went on to win the full tournament, so to lose out to the champions wasn’t too bad.

A massive well done to all of the girls as your performance and behaviour was exceptional throughout the day.
