World Book Day

Thursday the 3rd March was World Book Day and lots of things were happening in school to celebrate. One of the events was a school Big Read. All Year 7 students spent time in their last lesson of the day reading a short story.

The mood was set, the stories given out and teachers read aloud a spooky and thrilling short story. Each pupil was given the story to take home with them, ‘Click Clack the Rattlebag’ by Neil Gaiman. Some classes were also shown a video of the author himself reading the story aloud to a live audience.

The event was a success and hopefully will encourage students to take part in the Sunday Night Big Read. This takes place each Sunday. Students should read for 20-30 mins and log their reading.

If this is completed, students will be awarded with five achievement points and placed into a draw at the end of the year for a larger prize.

Please remember to access the FBEC e-library. This is available through the school website and gives students access to thousands of books electronically. Username: School email. Password: Ferryhill1.
