Aspire Day April 2022

In April we held our second Aspire Day. All pupils were off timetable and took part in a range of workshops, visits, classes, talks and activities aimed at building skills, broadening their thinking and raising aspirations. A huge THANK YOU to all of the visitors who supported us, delivering inspiring sessions:

  • Stanley Black and Decker

Our Year 7 pupils experienced music and performance. 60 pupils visited the Gala Theatre to take part in a workshop. The rest of the year group tried their hand at a variety of instruments with Durham Music Service, before coming together to perform Sea Shanty The Wellerman.

Year 8 visited Beamish and got to take part in some behind the scenes STEM Workshops looking at miners lamps.

Year 9 STEM Day. From exploring galaxies with Durham University Astrophysicists', Crime Scenes with CSI Training and Events Ltd, Biology fieldwork, Titrations, Electromagnetics and escaping from Bad Robots with Engineer, Paige Walmsley, from Stanley Black and Decker.

Year 10 and 11 - Talk the Talk joined us to run workshops with our Year 10 pupils building confidence in communication skills.

Meanwhile Year 11 had a revision workshop with Kevin Hall from Resilient Me followed by sessions with the inspirational George Fouche, from Dare to Aspire.
