STEAM Club

We did a lot in STEAM club this week. Firstly, we checked on our salt crystal flowers from last week which had evaporated and we made them into flowers by adding pipe cleaner stems.

Then, we did a twist on the classic ‘baking soda volcano’ and produced ‘fizzing rocks’ by mixing bicarbonate of soda (base) with water and freezing them. After half an hour, we squirted the rocks with vinegar/lemon juice (acid) which produced fizzing, a sign that a neutralisation chemical reaction had occurred.

We also built towers with marshmallows and spaghetti to visit the more technological side of STEAM whilst we waited.
