Active 30 Pledge
On Wednesday 6th of April we welcomed Craig Hampton into FBEC to work with our Sport Leaders. Craig works for County Durham Sport and is working alongside schools and young people to promote an increase in levels of physical activity for young people. FBEC have signed the Active 30 pledge, agreeing to provide at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day for our young people. However, Active 30 doesn’t stop at the school gate, young people should continue to be physically active outside of school and in the holidays.
Craig worked with all of our Sport Leaders where they developed resources and fun activities that all young people can get involved in, in and outside of school. Not only did our Sport Leaders design resources and games but they also got stuck in and played the games themselves. Romilly in Year 7 has given us a run down of what they did – “First we played two different types of stuck in the mud as a warm up. After, we designed a game for people at home. It had to be suitable for those at home because they wouldn’t have equipment you have in school. You might not have bibs at home so you could improvise by using t-shirts. We then finished by writing the equipment that was needed, seeing whether the game could be played at home.”
FBEC’s Sport Leaders are certainly on their way to making a positive difference in the world of sport and physical activity. Well done to you all!
