Safer Streets

In January, as part of the Safer Streets funding secured for Ferryhill by Joy Allen Durham Police and Crime Commissioner, year 5 pupils from the primary schools in Ferryhill and West Cornforth started work on the Commissioner's Challenge to help keep their Friends, Families and Neighbours safer.

By sharing Crime Prevention tips with everyone and doing small pro active work in the home and community, the pupils are hoping to help Ferryhill become more resilient to crime.

Glenys from Approach Too said “Big thank you to PCSO David Evans, Spennymoor and Ferryhill Police, Mr Handley and Ferryhill School Student Leaders for coming to support the pupils and award them with their well earned Gold Shields. As always, a big thank you the Ambassadors for Community Change and Ferryhill School Student Leaders for working so hard on developing the Commissioners Challenge.”

Top Tip: “Never give personal information (name, age, address, etc.) to a stranger and never let a stranger know you are home alone.”
